Ulmus Pumila

Cream-colored paper snow
Sun lights each up to glow
When the warm spring winds blow
Tap tapping a window
Liquid when they blow low
Aground they dart and flow
Asphalt's wind-schooled minnows
Beach themselves amid rows
And soon a new tree grows.

  1. A lovely poem about spring that brought a soft smile to my face

  2. You like the elm, I like the aspen, but somehow, we still get along.

Oddly, this arrangement of words set off a shiver in my skin:
    “Asphalt’s wind-schooled minnows
    Beach themselves amid rows.”

    1. These Elm though, they are not the stately trees lining the streets, these are Siberian Elm. They’re an invasive species that are brittle and subject to breakage. I find them utterly irritating as the seedlings pop up everywhere. I like Aspens better even if they like to spread. My favorite trees are Oaks, Gingkos and Chestnuts. I guess I would like my world to look like something Maxfield Parrish painted.
