A River Is Going To Flow

Abundance isn’t just about joy. It certainly isn’t synonymous with happiness. Much more likely, it will be associated with a need to do something. Imagine you’re a star athlete. How long do you think you might be able to sit still? An hour? A day? How about a month?

A writer must write. A singer must sing. An athlete must move. A philosopher must question. Ah well you get the idea I’m sure.

“To survive, you must tell stories.” – Umberto Eco

Here’s the thing about abundance, it’s there whether you give it shape or not. It’s just under the surface for most people. In others however, it’s right there, bubbling up in their every thought, action, and word. The accountant, who on Friday nights does competitive Tango, and dances between his desk and printer when he’s working alone in the office. His abundance will not be denied. Acting on our abundance and sharing our gifts is where the joy can be found.

“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.” – Wayne Dyer

Abundance isn’t about just one thing. Going back to the athlete, could they have been a dancer? What about a soldier? Or maybe a firefighter? Just because we have a specific form of abundance doesn’t mean we only get to do a certain career, or that our career has to have anything to do with our form of abundance. Abundance is simply the raw energy, or materials, we naturally have. It’s what we catch ourselves doing instead of what we should be doing.

“Being nerdy just means being passionate about something, including everyone – the coolest people on Earth are passionate and therefore nerdy about something whatever it is, whether it’s sports, or gaming, or technology, or fashion, or beauty, or food, or whatever.” – Zachary Levi

We can also have more than one type of abundance, I would guess most people do. We live in a world with fewer limits than we impose upon ourselves. Be the firefighting philosopher. Be the singing writer (songwriter/singer). Be yourself and give your abundance form and life in the world around you.

  1. There’s always abundance, yes, and when I think more about myself, I can do more.
