Definition of “fine print”
- The smaller, often less noticeable section of a document where limitations or conditions could be hidden
Ignore the societal assumptions that you were taught. Just because they’re traditional doesn’t mean they’re right.
There are no plans available that will guarantee certain futures.
Your world looks like no one else’s so make your own map and trust yourself.
As one man already said in his own list of advice, wear sunscreen.
No one owes you what someone else promised you, so place your trust with care.
Nothing that can be gained tomorrow is worth your soul today.
Hope is a great thing to keep.
Love is a great thing to give away.
Even the best intended advice is given by someone who can’t see the future any better than you can.
Promises and intentions are non-binding, only contracts are binding, so get it in writing.
Read the fine print.
Take some law classes so you can understand the fine print.
Obey the law – mostly. You will be guaranteed to be breaking some laws already before you complicate things by choosing to break more. Keep it as simple as you can.
Go ahead and love. But be careful about expectations.
No you cannot have it all. We can’t even have it all at a buffet without regretting the attempt.
Yes you can be President. I don’t suggest it though. They don’t keep very good company.
Don’t turn away opportunities just because they aren’t perfect. Perfection is never enough in the eyes of the perfectionist.
Take advice with a grain of distrust. Because today’s good advice turns into tomorrow’s outdated idea.
And finally…
And do as adversaries do in law,
Strive mightily, but eat and drink as friends.
(The Taming of the Shrew, 1.2.280), Tranio – William Shakespeare
