Wonderful Wednesday

“If the only prayer you say throughout your life is “Thank You,” then that will be enough.”
― Elie Wiesel

“Greedy little people in a sea of distress
Keep your more to receive your less
Unimpressed by material excess
Love is free, love me, say hell yes” Give It Away – Red Hot Chili Peppers 1991

“Rise up this morning,
Smile with the rising sun,
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Singin’, ‘This is my message to you.’
Singin’ don’t worry
About a thing
’Cos ev’ry little thing
‘Sgonna be alright” Three Little Birds – Bob Marley & The Wailers 1977

This Wednesday. This week. This day. It won’t be back again. The world is a mess again. I can’t remember a time when it wasn’t a mess. It will probably be a mess tomorrow too. There will always be things to fear, and causes to fight for. As Jesus said once a very long time ago, “The poor you will always have with you.” He was right of course. We can help the poor every day and that is an excellent use of our abundance. Helping and sharing and caring do not require long faces. In fact, if we also enjoy our life, finding joy and gratitude in the simple experiences of life we have even more to give. No matter how disastrous this day may seem, we can still create something better. Bring light into the darkness. Remember to live. Gratitude doesn’t require arias or odes, it’s often tiny and insignificant, but that qualifies. Words are optional.
