Waiting for Revival

Daily writing prompt
What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

A Liberty House Thebes stool, its bent plywood seat, cracked and split. Every joint stays together surely out of habit because the glue moved away to drier climes back in the 1970s. My grandparents relegated the stool to the deck outside their Lake Michigan summer home after Egyptian Revival lost its cachet. There it stayed until it was demoted to the basement. My mother rescued it and gave it a home on her screened porch for decades. It chased after that glue and came to New Mexico to live with me. It is now an indoor stool that will be repaired someday, if I can ever find someone to bend new wood to match what they did back in the day.
