To create a brand new day.

When we wake up, no matter what the time, we have a powerful opportunity. All of us have the chance to create a new day. Each step on the path of our day is a choice. Which way do we go? How do we react? Are we interested in that side quest being offered to us? Do we choose to have friendly interactions with others when we meet them, or do we choose arguments and drama?

It might sound like a video game; video games are often designed to mimic reality. The difference lies in who decides what the choices are. Video games, by design, work within a limited field of options and choices. The more advanced the game, the more freedom a player has in their actions. All of that effort being added to the design is to make it feel more like the world we live in.

Imagine what that means for the power we have in creating our world. Step by step, day by day, interaction by interaction, we change the world we live in. We all know this on some level and we also know that we don’t know the details of how the path ahead is going to look. We know that there will be bumps, bad weather, other travelers, challenges, and frightful encounters. We sometimes forget though, that there will be soft meadows, beautiful weather, traveling companions, friends, successes, and encounters that fill us with awe.

What if, today, we choose to create, with each step, a day where we see, not only a soft meadow, but plant some wildflowers as we journey. What if, today, we lighten our burden of trying to do it all on our own, and share a meal, or an hour with a fellow traveler. Creating a brand new day that’s the kind we’d like to have more of.
